The 2024 Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour on equestrianism is set to kick off at the Shanghai International Equestrian Center this weekend.

For those not aware, this is a huge international (and prestigious event) following right on the heels of F1. It isn't horse racing, but an event that focuses on jumping! The global tour features stops in Doha, Paris, Madrid, and of course, Shanghai. The event isn't just known for the equestrian aspect, but also for showcasing top tier hospitality within each host city (more down below).

Globally, the event in Shanghai is anticipated to be particularly spectacular since it is taking place at the newly opened Shanghai Juss International Equestrian Center(City's new equestrian center set for its first major competition), located within the EXPO Cultural Park (where Shanghai hosted the World Expo in 2010). It is China's first permanent professional equestrian venue, equipped with over 5,000 seats, and is designed to meet the standards of top international equestrian competitions. On top of this, it's gorgeous.

A particular highlight of the Shanghai event is the Grand Prix on May 5, featuring an obstacle height of 1.6 meters, a challenge that only about a hundred horses worldwide are capable of tackling!

This prestigious international equestrian event brings together top riders and excellent horses from around the world, promising an exhilarating experience for spectators.

2. Notice

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: Don't forget your ID! You'll need a valid identification document like an ID card, passport, or a Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan travel permit to snag your ticket.

Q: What can't I bring?

A: Before you pack up, skim through our no-go list below to make sure you get in without a fuss:

1. No weapons, folks – that includes firearms, ammo, explosives, simulated guns, bows, arrows, or anything else that could start a scene.

2. Leave behind any fireworks, gasoline, liquor, lighters, or anything else that can flame up or boom.

3. Ditch hazardous stuff like chemicals, radioactive materials, or anything that screams danger.

4. Biological no-nos like harmful agents, disease pathogens, or anything else that could start a panic.

5. Drugs are a hard pass. This includes narcotics, psychotropics, or other controlled substances.

6. Pro photography gear, laser pointers, projectors? Better not – save the light show for the pros.

7. No fragile containers, large hard-shell munchies, knives, or anything that could smash, slash, or crash.

8. Steer clear of any banners, signs, or promotional stuff with political, racial, religious, or commercial messages.

9. Loud gear like instruments, whistles, or drums? Nope, this isn't a parade.

10. Anything sharp or pokey like sticks or poles – let's keep it smooth and safe.

11. Sports equipment like balls or rackets unless they're officially needed for the event.

12. Any unauthorized items that could mess with the event vibe or bug the crowd.

13. Flying gadgets like drones are a no-fly zone here.

14. Lastly, if it's banned by law, it's banned by the event too.

3.Transportation

The Shanghai International Equestrian Center is located at 251 Tongyao Road, Pudong New Area. Take Metro Line 7 to the Houtan Station and follow the signs to the ticket checkpoint. We recommend using public transportation, as events like this tend to draw crowds, i.e. there will be traffic.

If you need to park your car, there are paid parking lots available at the nearby Shanghai SK Tower, International Metropolis Plaza (IMP) as well as other locations nearby.

4.Tips for Spectators

1. Remember, the horses are super sensitive. Keep it down while they're strutting their stuff in the arena – no loud noises or flash photography, please! And when they're done, let's keep the applause on the quiet side to avoid any spooks.

2. Dress code alert! Regardless of gender, tidy up and keep it classy. Flip-flops, hoodies, and singlets are a no-go. Ladies, a chic little hat could be your perfect accessory – just make sure it's secured!

3. Keep the noise and smoke to a minimum during the event. Phones should be either off or on silent – this isn't the place for ringtones and chat alerts.

4. Stay cool and collected while watching the competition. Avoid sudden moves, and save your cheers and whistles for another time to keep the horses calm and focused.

5. Leave the flags and banners at home. When snapping pics, make sure to turn off your flash to keep the scene serene for both horses and riders.

6. No littering, please! Keep food and other items tidy to avoid any accidents or disruptions in the arena.

7. Kids in tow? Keep a close watch on the little ones and prevent any run-arounds near the arena fence. Let's keep it safe and enjoyable for everyone!

5.Other events

During the event, the Shanghai International Equestrian Center transforms into a bustling hub with dining, entertainment, and leisure activities spread across its various floors. Beyond the horse shows and official merchandise shops, there's a ton more to explore. Picture strolling through an area decked out like an old "European Town" or grabbing an autograph from your favorite rider.

Plus, for the kiddos, there's the "Human-Horse Harmony" children's area – and a charming spot where they can learn about horse care while diving into some fun arts and crafts.

Stay in the loop with all these offerings by following the official WeChat account (ID: mayueshencheng) and Weibo accounts (上海浪琴环球马术冠军赛) of the Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour.
